This antistatic matting agent is a specially compounded silica‑based matting powder blend designed for matte coating and synthetic leather finishing applications. It combines surface‑modified silica matting filler with functional antistatic components. Apart from lowering surface gloss to produce uniform matte visual effect on cured coating and leather finish, it also builds micro‑conductive networks inside the finish layer to dissipate static charges. It reduces static‑induced dust adsorption o
Product DetailsThis silica matting powder blend consists of amorphous surface‑treated silica particles and finely dispersed antistatic functional powder. The modified silica fraction is responsible for matting effect: after film curing, rigid micro‑particles form tiny micro‑roughness on the coating surface to scatter incident light and reduce surface gloss, creating stable matte appearance. The integrated antistatic functional component forms interconnected micro‑conductive pathways within the solidified finish layer. Static charges accumulated on the matte surface can be dissipated, restraining electrostatic attraction of fine dust and minimizing surface contamination.
During paint manufacturing, this powder blend is incorporated into coating or leather top‑coat slurry under moderate high‑shear dispersion. Appropriate dispersion speed and duration must be controlled to avoid excessive particle grinding; broken silica grains will negatively influence matting efficiency and surface texture of finished finish layer.
Formulation compatibility testing with base resin, curing agents, color pigments and other auxiliaries is essential. Improper matching may trigger sedimentation, flocculation, grit formation in the liquid coating. Excessive loading will increase coating viscosity, reduce scratch resistance of cured film and generate rough, grainy surface texture. Insufficient dosage results in inadequate matting effect and poor static‑dissipating capacity.
The antistatic property of this powder blend exhibits certain humidity dependence. Under extremely dry environmental conditions, the dust‑proof performance will decrease. For synthetic leather production, attention should also be paid to the influence of this additive on drying speed and flexibility of the leather top‑coat.
Recommended dosage ranges from 2.0 wt%‑8.0 wt% based on the total weight of finished coating or leather top‑coat formulation. Pre‑production laboratory evaluation should cover powder dispersion behaviour, storage sedimentation tendency, gloss‑adjusting performance, surface resistivity, scratch resistance, flexibility and long‑term ageing stability of cured finish film.
Store the antistatic matting powder inside sealed moisture‑proof drums in cool, dry and ventilated warehouse. Prevent moisture absorption which would cause agglomeration of silica powder. Keep away from direct sunlight. Reseal containers immediately after opening to maintain original particle state and consistent performance
