Pangel‑W150 Equivalent Sodium‑Based Waterborne Bentonite CAS 68953‑58‑2 Anti‑Settling Thickener for Emulsion Asphalt Waterborne Adhesive

Pangel‑W150 Equivalent Sodium‑Based Waterborne Bentonite (CAS 68953‑58‑2) is refined sodium‑activated montmorillonite powder designed as direct functional alternative to Pangel‑W150, mainly used for emulsion asphalt and water‑based adhesive systems. Under sufficient high‑shear hydration dispersion within aqueous phase, silicate layers exfoliate and build a reversible three‑dimensional thixotropic gel network. Product Overview

Pangel‑W150 Equivalent Sodium‑Based Waterborne Bentonite, CAS 68953‑58‑2, is produced from high‑quality natural montmorillonite via dedicated sodium‑activation and purification process, serving as high‑performance inorganic rheology substitute for Pangel‑W150. This sodium‑type bentonite powder is specially optimized for emulsion asphalt and construction‑grade waterborne adhesive formulations. Unlike solvent‑grade organophilic bentonite, this water‑borne sodium bentonite develops thixotropic performance through hydration‑driven exfoliation under high‑shear mixing in aqueous media; no polar activator is required. Exfoliated silicate platelets construct a reversible three‑dimensional colloidal thixotropic network in the aqueous continuous phase. Under static storage conditions, the colloidal network restricts settlement of mineral fillers and suppresses coalescence and phase separation of bitumen droplets, greatly prolonging the stable storage life of emulsion asphalt. When emulsion asphalt or water‑based adhesive is applied by scraping, roller or spraying, external mechanical shear disrupts the colloidal network, reducing system viscosity and realizing favourable flow‑out and spreading behaviour on construction substrates. Once construction work is finished, the thixotropic network rebuilds quickly and effectively restricts sagging and running on inclined and vertical surfaces. This sodium‑based bentonite shows excellent compatibility with anionic bitumen emulsions and different water‑based adhesive binders, and exerts only minor adverse impact on final waterproof performance and adhesive bonding strength. Consistent batch‑to‑batch quality supports large‑scale manufacturing of road‑grade emulsion asphalt, building waterproof slurry and construction water‑borne adhesives.

Key Features

‑ Sodium‑activated waterborne bentonite, functional equivalent to Pangel‑W150 for emulsion asphalt and waterborne adhesive ‑ Hydration‑triggered platelet exfoliation under high‑shear aqueous dispersion, no polar activator required ‑ Excellent stabilizing effect on bitumen droplets, effectively resisting phase separation for stored bitumen emulsion ‑ Reliable anti‑settling capacity for mineral fillers inside emulsion asphalt and construction water‑based adhesive ‑ Distinct shear‑thinning thixotropy, balancing long‑term storage stability and on‑site construction flow‑out performance ‑ Broad compatibility with anionic bitumen emulsions and various water‑based adhesive resin systems, limited influence on final bonding and waterproof property ‑ Fine free‑flowing off‑white powder, easy feeding for emulsion asphalt and adhesive production workshops ‑ Stable rheological consistency for mass‑production of road and construction chemical products

‑ Road‑grade anionic emulsion asphalt for pavement sealing and surface treatment ‑ Building waterproof bituminous slurry and water‑based bitumen sealant ‑ Construction waterborne adhesive with high mineral‑filler loading ‑ Water‑based joint‑filling compounds requiring anti‑sag and anti‑settling control ‑ Inorganic thickening rheology additive for emulsion asphalt and construction adhesive manufacturing

Usage Recommendation

‑ Typical dosage range: 0.4‑1.7 % based on total formulation weight ‑ Slowly add bentonite powder into water phase under vigorous high‑speed stirring, allow sufficient hydration period before introducing bitumen emulsion or adhesive resin ‑ Complete hydration and adequate dispersion time are essential to achieve target thixotropy; insufficient hydration will cause emulsion instability and filler sedimentation ‑ Conduct full laboratory pre‑testing covering storage stability, anti‑sag property, construction workability and final waterproof‑bonding performance prior to mass‑scale production ‑ Avoid over‑dosage; excessive addition will sharply raise slurry viscosity and impair spreading and spraying workability during construction

Package & Storage

‑ Standard packing: 25kg kraft paper bag with inner PE liner ‑ Store in cool, dry and ventilated warehouse; protect powder from moisture absorption and heavy compression ‑ Tightly seal opened bags to prevent moisture ingress ‑ Shelf life: 12 months under proper storage conditions

Safety Notes

‑ Avoid dust generation and inhalation during material handling; wear suitable dust mask and safety goggles. ‑ Prevent direct skin contact; chemical‑resistant gloves are required for operation. ‑ Keep away from open flame and high‑temperature heat sources. ‑ Please refer to SDS document for comprehensive guidance on handling, transportation and emergency disposal.
