CAS 1318-93-0 Organophilic Nanoclay Product Detail Page
(Suitable for Alibaba International Station & Official Website)
Product Overview
CAS 1318-93-0 Organophilic Nanoclay is organo-modified montmorillonite layered silicate nanofiller processed via organic cation exchange technology.
Natural montmorillonite is hydrophilic and incompatible with polyolefin materials. After organic surface modification, the nanoclay becomes organophilic, realizing favorable interfacial compatibility with PP, PE and other polyolefin resins. Under twin-screw melt shearing, stacked silicate layers are exfoliated into nanosheets and evenly dispersed in plastic matrix. The staggered lamellar structure creates tortuous diffusion routes to hinder the penetration of oxygen, water vapor and volatile substances. Apart from prominent gas barrier performance, it also improves rigidity, heat resistance and dimensional stability of polyolefin products. It is a cost-effective functional additive for barrier packaging and PP/PE engineering plastics.
Product Properties
The product is fine off-white powder with complete layered crystal structure. Great lipophilicity enables uniform blending with PP, PE raw materials. Nanoscale exfoliation can be achieved under suitable melt processing conditions. Low impurity content avoids surface defects of plastic finished goods. It possesses good thermal stability and adapts to conventional processing temperature window of polyolefin. Barrier and reinforcing effects maintain stability after long-term service.
Core Advantages
Organophilic modification. Perfectly solve the poor compatibility problem between original clay and PP/PE polyolefin.
Excellent barrier effect. Effectively reduce oxygen and water vapor permeability to extend shelf life of packaged goods.
Nanoscale dispersion. Form lamellar network without large agglomerates under reasonable processing.
Comprehensive performance improvement. Enhance material rigidity, heat distortion resistance and anti-creep property.
Easy processing. Adapt to extrusion film blowing, injection molding, calendering and other polyolefin forming processes.
Low addition dosage. Achieve target barrier indicators to control overall production cost.
Main Applications
Organophilic Nanoclay serves as gas barrier additive for PP and PE engineering plastics. Typical applications: PP/PE barrier packaging film, food plastic packaging containers, polyolefin injection molded structural parts, anti-volatile plastic sheets, biodegradable polyolefin composites, industrial moisture-proof plastic components.
Usage Guidance
Mix nanoclay with PP/PE pellets evenly before feeding to extruder or injection machine.
Recommended addition amount: 1%–4% by weight, adjust proportion according to barrier requirements.
It is suggested to cooperate with polyolefin compatibilizer to promote further exfoliation and dispersion.
Optimize screw speed and processing temperature to guarantee sufficient shearing effect.
Conduct small batch trial production and performance test before formal mass manufacturing.
Seal storage to prevent moisture absorption; drying treatment is recommended for high-barrier products.
Packing & Storage
Standard package: 25kg kraft paper bag with inner PE waterproof liner. Test samples are available upon request.
Keep packaging tightly sealed after opening. Store in cool, dry and ventilated warehouse. Avoid damp environment and direct sunlight. Prevent heavy extrusion during transportation to avoid powder caking.
