Organo Modified Montmorillonite Nanoclay CAS 1318-93-0 is organophilic layered silicate nanofiller manufactured via organic cation exchange modification of natural montmorillonite.
Raw sodium montmorillonite is hydrophilic and poorly compatible with organic polymers. After surface organic modification, the nanoclay turns organophilic and can be exfoliated into ultra-thin single or few-layer nanosheets inside polymer matrix. The dispersed lamellae build tortuous penetration paths to block gas and water vapor transmission. Besides outstanding barrier performance, this product also elevates tensile strength, heat distortion temperature and dimensional stability.
