Heat Resistant Silicone Light Diffuser for LED
Product Overview
This heat-resistant grade silicone light diffuser is a micron-sized spherical ultra-fine white powder developed specifically for high-temperature processing scenarios of LED lighting products. It adopts a cross-linked polysiloxane structure with Si-O-Si as the main bond, which solves the common yellowing and black spot problems of traditional acrylic diffusers during high-temperature processing of PC and other engineering plastics, and is the preferred light diffusion additive for high-end LED lighting products with strict requirements for processing stability and long-term weather resistance.
Core Advantages
- Ultra-high temperature stabilityThe product withstands temperatures over 400℃, fully adapting to the 260-320℃ high-temperature environment of PC injection molding and extrusion. No yellowing, carbonization or black spots appear during processing, and finished products resist yellowing and aging even after long-term use, effectively reducing processing defective rates.
- Balanced optical performancePrecisely controlled narrow particle size distribution and optimized 1.43 refractive index deliver 85%-93% light transmittance and 85%-90% haze while keeping total light loss below 5%. It completely shields LED beads, eliminates point light source glare, and produces soft, uniform light output without dark spots, crystal points or light leakage.
- Smooth processing performanceRegular spherical micro-structure offers excellent compatibility with PC, PMMA, PS and other transparent resins, dispersing evenly in substrates without agglomeration, and will not reduce the impact strength, tensile strength or other physical properties of base materials. It also provides mild lubricity to reduce equipment wear during processing and improve production efficiency.
- Long-lasting weather resistanceThe stable Si-O-Si main chain structure delivers excellent UV and aging resistance. Compared with traditional organic diffusers, it adapts well to long-term outdoor use, with no performance degradation or discoloration under long-term light exposure and extreme temperature changes.
- Cost-effective formulationRecommended addition rate is only 0.5%-2%, 30%-50% lower than acrylic diffusers at the same haze requirement, effectively reducing formulation costs.
Typical Properties
The product appears as pure white ultra-fine spherical powder, with an average D50 particle size of 2.0μm, 1.43 refractive index at 25℃, 1.3g/cm³ density, over 98% solid content, less than 1% volatile matter after 2 hours at 105℃, and over 95 whiteness. All indicators meet industrial optical additive standards, and comply with EU RoHS and REACH environmental regulations.
Recommended Applications
It is widely used for light diffusion modification of various transparent resin LED products, including PC LED lampshades, bulb shells and candle covers; T5/T8/T10 LED light tubes and extruded transparent profiles; LED panel light diffusers and light guide plates; high-transmittance PC light diffusion masterbatch; and other anti-glare, high-temperature resistant LED transparent parts.
Usage Guidelines
Adjust the addition ratio according to product wall thickness, distance between LED beads and cover, and required light effect: add 0.5%-1% for thick-walled products over 2mm or high-transmittance scenarios; add 1%-1.5% for standard 1-2mm wall thickness products; add 1.5%-2% for thin-walled products under 1mm or high-haze requirements. Small trial tests are recommended to confirm the optimal ratio before mass production.
For small batch production, pre-make 5% concentration light diffusion masterbatch with PC resin first, then mix masterbatch with pure PC resin evenly before processing to ensure more uniform dispersion and consistent finished product effect. For large batch production, mix directly with PC pellets in proportion, stir at high speed for 5-10 minutes, then add to injection molding or extrusion equipment.
The product adapts to standard PC resin processing temperatures, no original parameter adjustment is needed. Dry PC resin before processing to avoid bubbles affecting optical performance.
