Zinc Stearate Release Agent CAS 557-05-1, Internal Lubricant Heat Stabilizer Synergist for PVC Polyolefin & Rubber

Zinc Stearate Release Agent CAS 557‑05‑1 is white fine metallic stearate powder produced from stearic acid and zinc‑based raw materials. This multifunctional processing additive delivers internal lubrication, auxiliary mold‑release performance and synergistic heat‑stabilizing effect for polymer systems. In rigid and flexible PVC formulations, it cooperates with primary thermal stabilizers to suppress early thermal degradation. For polyolefin extrusion and injection molding, it optimizes melt flu

Product Detail Page: Zinc Stearate is manufactured via wet or dry synthesis process between stearic acid and zinc oxide. The crude product goes through washing, drying and fine milling to obtain free‑flowing white powder. Each production batch is strictly tested for zinc content, melting range, moisture, free‑fatty‑acid value, particle‑size distribution, lubricating property and thermal stability to guarantee consistent performance for plastic and rubber processing.

PVC, polyolefin and rubber production confronts several typical processing challenges. During high‑temperature processing of PVC, the polymer chain is vulnerable to thermal decomposition and discoloration. Single primary stabilizer cannot always deliver sufficient heat resistance, so suitable synergistic auxiliary is required to prolong thermal stability time. In PVC calendaring and extrusion, insufficient internal lubrication will raise melt viscosity and increase equipment load; inadequate external releasing performance causes resin sticking to calendar rolls and dies, generating plate‑out deposits, streaks and surface defects. For polyolefin modified compounding, poor melt flow brings high extrusion torque. In rubber kneading and hot vulcanization, high‑viscosity rubber stock increases mixing energy consumption, and uncured rubber tends to adhere to hot mold cavities, which results in tearing of finished rubber articles and frequent mold cleaning operations.

When homogeneously incorporated into PVC, polyolefin or rubber formulations at recommended dosage during compounding, fine zinc stearate powder melts gradually under processing temperature. For PVC systems, it interacts with main thermal stabilizer as a synergist, inhibiting initial discoloration caused by thermal decomposition. Meanwhile it provides effective internal lubrication, reducing intermolecular friction of polymer melt, lowering calendaring and extrusion torque and improving melt fluidity. A small fraction migrates to the interface between molten stock and metallic equipment, forming a thin slippery boundary layer. This boundary layer restricts plate‑out accumulation on calendar rolls and die lips for PVC and polyolefin processing, and delivers auxiliary mold‑release effect for rubber vulcanization molding.

Precise dosage control is critical for polymer formulation. Under‑dosage leads to insufficient internal lubrication, weak heat‑stabilizing synergistic effect, severe roll sticking and mold fouling. Excessive loading will trigger “zinc burning” degradation risk in PVC system, induce surface blooming, and negatively affect mechanical properties of finished polyolefin and rubber products. Laboratory compounding and processing trials are strongly recommended before formal mass‑scale manufacturing. Zinc stearate can be used synergistically with calcium‑zinc stabilizers, lead‑free stabilizers, antioxidants, mineral fillers and rubber vulcanizing agents.

For compounding operations, zinc stearate powder is added in high‑speed mixer for PVC and polyolefin compounding, or fed into internal kneader and open mill during rubber mixing before extrusion, calendaring, injection molding or vulcanization.

Protect the powder product against moisture absorption and foreign contaminants. Damp storage environment will cause powder agglomeration.

Major application fields: heat stabilizer synergist and internal lubricant for rigid and flexible PVC calendared sheets, profiles and granules; processing lubricant and anti‑plate‑out auxiliary for modified polyolefin extrusion and injection molding; internal lubricating and mold‑release additive for technical rubber compound and vulcanized rubber parts.

Store the product in tightly‑sealed original bags within 15‑30℃, keep dry and avoid direct sunlight.
