3μm Injection Grade PMMA Microsphere Light Diffuser
Product Overview
This 3μm cross-linked PMMA microsphere light diffuser is a cost-effective light diffusion additive specially developed for PC/PS injection molding process. It solves common problems of ordinary diffusers in injection production such as flow marks, poor dispersion and many crystal points, with 20%-25% lower cost than silicone light diffusers, which is the first choice for mass production of LED injection light diffusion parts.
*Important Note: This product is not suitable for pure PMMA (acrylic) substrate, as the refractive index of PMMA microspheres is almost the same as PMMA substrate, which cannot produce effective light diffusion effect. It is not recommended for optical film coating scenarios.

- Exclusive 3μm particle size for injectionThe 3μm particle size is specially adjusted for injection process, which not only ensures sufficient light diffusion and anti-glare effect, but also avoids pitting and white spots on the surface of parts caused by too large particle size. The balance of haze and light transmittance is most suitable for LED injection lampshades.
- Good dispersion without flow marksAfter special lipophilic surface treatment, it has good compatibility with PC/PS melt. It will not agglomerate or produce flow marks and silver streaks even when added directly with powder for injection, no need to make high-concentration masterbatch specially, which simplifies production process.
- High transmittance with low light lossWith a refractive index of 1.49, it forms a proper refractive index difference with PC/PS. At the same haze, the light transmittance is 3%-5% higher than that of silicone diffuser, with low light loss, and the finished lampshade has higher brightness.
- Stable processing without yellowingHeat resistance up to 280℃, fully adapts to the conventional PC injection temperature of 260-290℃, no decomposition, no yellowing, no black spots when staying in the barrel for a short time, which effectively improves the yield of finished products.
- Significant cost advantageThe cost is about 25% lower than silicone light diffuser of the same particle size, and the required haze can be achieved with only 0.5%-1.2% addition amount, which greatly reduces the raw material cost for mass production.
Typical Performance
The product appears as white regular spherical powder, D50 particle size is stably controlled at 3μm±0.2μm, no coarse particles over 10μm, refractive index 1.49, whiteness over 97, volatile matter below 0.3%. All indicators meet injection grade requirements, pass RoHS and REACH tests, suitable for export lighting products.
Recommended Applications
It is specially used for PC/PS injection molding light diffusion modification, including PC LED bulb lampshades, PC tube covers, PS light diffusion plates, anti-glare modification of PC transparent profiles, injection light box diffusion parts and other transparent injection parts requiring soft light effect.
Usage Guidelines
For injection molding, the recommended addition amount is 0.4%-1.2%: add 0.4%-0.7% for high-transmittance lampshades, 0.7%-1.0% for conventional haze lampshades, 1.0%-1.2% for high-haze lampshades. It can be directly mixed with PC/PS raw materials evenly for injection, or made into 20% concentration light diffusion masterbatch for better dispersion effect.
The injection temperature can be set according to the conventional PC/PS processing parameters without special adjustment. It is recommended to dry the raw materials for 4 hours before injection to avoid water marks and silver streaks. We provide free samples for testing, and can provide technical support for injection formula adjustment during the trial period.
Packaging & Support
The product is packed in 20kg waterproof kraft paper drum with PE inner liner, and 1kg aluminum foil bag small package is available for sample testing. Store in a cool and dry place to avoid moisture, shelf life is 2 years. Conventional particle size models are in stock all year round, bulk order delivery within 3 working days.
