Product Overview

This extrusion-grade acrylic (PMMA) light diffuser powder is a cost-effective light diffusion additive specially developed for LED strip, linear light and neon tube extrusion covers. It solves common pain points of ordinary diffusers in strip cover production: visible LED beads, low light transmittance, yellowing during long-time extrusion and flow marks on cover surface. With 30% lower cost than silicone light diffusers, it is the first choice for mass production of LED strip light covers.

Core Advantages

Balanced particle size for strip covers
The 5μm particle size is specially designed for thin-walled strip covers, which can completely hide LED beads to avoid glare while maintaining about 90% high light transmittance. It will not cause too high haze and low light output like large-particle powder, nor fail to cover LED beads like too small particle powder.
Stable extrusion without yellowing
Heat resistance up to 270℃, fully adapts to PC/acrylic extrusion temperature of 220-260℃, no decomposition, no yellowing, no black spots during long-time continuous extrusion, effectively improving production yield. Passed 1000h UV aging test, outdoor use for 3 years without obvious yellowing.
Good dispersion without flow marks
Special extrusion-oriented surface treatment ensures good compatibility with PC and acrylic melt. It will not agglomerate or cause flow marks, silver streaks and crystal points even when added directly as powder for extrusion, no need to make high-concentration masterbatch specially, simplifying production process.
Uniform soft anti-glare effect
Light forms uniform diffuse reflection when passing through the diffuser, the output light is soft and not dazzling, no light spots, no bright and dark stripes, meeting UGR<19 anti-glare standard for indoor lighting.
Significant cost advantage
The cost is 30% lower than silicone light diffuser with same effect, only 0.3%-0.8% addition can achieve the effect of covering LED beads, greatly reducing raw material cost for mass production.

Typical Properties

The product appears as white spherical powder, D50 particle size is stably controlled at 5μm±0.3μm, refractive index 1.49, whiteness over 97, volatile matter below 0.3%, no coarse particles over 15μm. It passes RoHS, REACH and UV weather resistance tests, suitable for outdoor LED strip products.

Recommended Applications

It is specially used for extruded LED strip covers, including PC covers for low/high voltage LED strips, acrylic covers for linear lights, PC/silicone diffusion tubes for neon strips, diffusion plates for advertising channel letters, diffusion layers for light box soft film. It is not recommended for thick-walled injection parts, light guide plates and optical films due to unsuitable particle size.

Usage Guidelines

For LED strip cover extrusion, the recommended addition amount is 0.3%-0.8%: add 0.3%-0.5% for high-transmittance strips, add 0.5%-0.8% for full-cover soft light strips. It can be directly mixed with PC/acrylic raw materials evenly for extrusion, or made into 10% concentration diffusion masterbatch for better dispersion effect.

The extrusion temperature can be set according to conventional PC/acrylic extrusion parameters without special adjustment. It is recommended to dry raw materials for 4 hours before extrusion to avoid water marks and bubbles. We can recommend suitable addition amount according to customers' required light transmittance and haze, and provide free samples for trial extrusion.

Packaging & Support

The product is packed in 20kg waterproof kraft paper drum with PE inner liner, and 1kg aluminum foil bag small package is available for sample testing. Store in a cool and dry place to avoid moisture, shelf life is 2 years.
