SMC/BMC Fiberglass Release Agent Internal External is a multi‑functional composite releasing formulation developed for fiberglass‑reinforced unsaturated polyester SMC and BMC compression molding. It can be incorporated directly into the SMC / BMC compound as an internal additive, or applied onto mold surfaces as an external releasing coating. During high‑pressure hot compression cycles, it forms a uniform lubricating boundary layer between mold and composite stock. It reduces fiber‑printing, pit
Product Detail Page: This SMC/BMC fiberglass release agent is manufactured by blending selected lubricating components, interfacial modifiers and dispersion agents under controlled stirring, followed by fine filtration. Each production batch is tested for dispersion performance, thermal stability, releasing efficiency, anti‑fiber‑printing property and compatibility with unsaturated polyester resin prior to shipment.
Hot compression molding of SMC and BMC fiberglass reinforced composites faces persistent technical challenges. Under high temperature and high pressure, short glass fibers tend to create visible fiber‑printing marks on the finished part surface. Conventional single‑function internal release agents often provide limited releasing effect, and serious mold fouling occurs after repeated molding cycles. Solely external release coatings require frequent re‑spraying on large molds, lowering production throughput. Inadequate releasing performance causes composite sticking, edge tearing and surface scratching on molded panels and structural parts. Gradual accumulation of cured polyester resin and glass fiber residues inside mold cavities forces frequent production stops for mold cleaning, which raises manufacturing costs and restricts output. Poor surface quality also increases the amount of grinding and polishing work required in subsequent finishing operations.
When used as an internal release agent, the product is homogeneously mixed into SMC or BMC paste during compound preparation. When applied externally, it is evenly coated onto thoroughly cleaned and pre‑heated mold surfaces. In the course of high‑temperature compression molding, active lubricating constituents migrate to the mold‑resin interface and build a continuous flexible lubricating boundary film. This interfacial film reduces the adhesion force between hot curing unsaturated polyester compound and mold steel, enabling smooth demolding of fiberglass composite parts. The specially selected interfacial modifiers restrain the penetration of glass fibers toward the mold surface, effectively minimizing fiber‑printing defects and significantly improving the surface finish of molded SMC‑BMC components. It also slows the build‑up of cured resin‑fiber fouling inside mold cavities during continuous serial molding.
Strict usage dosage and application procedure must be followed. For internal addition, under‑dosage results in insufficient lubrication and release capacity, leading to composite sticking and obvious fiber‑printing. Excessive internal loading may negatively influence curing speed, surface hardness and mechanical strength of the final composite. For external coating, too‑thin coating leads to premature failure of the releasing layer; over‑heavy coating may generate transfer residues and impair subsequent painting and gel‑coating. It is strongly recommended to run molding validation trials on customer production molds before formal mass production. This release agent maintains good compatibility with standard unsaturated polyester, glass fiber and mineral filler systems for SMC and BMC.
For processing operations: For internal usage, meter the release agent into the resin mixing tank during SMC / BMC compounding. For external usage, clean mold cavities thoroughly, apply uniform coating, and allow proper drying before charging the SMC or BMC molding stock.
Major application fields: combined internal‑external releasing processing aid for SMC and BMC fiberglass reinforced composites; surface‑finish improver for unsaturated polyester compression‑molded parts; anti‑fouling mold release auxiliary for large‑size composite panel production.
